You Can’t Choose Your Times

My 500th Post! Although I really shouldn’t consider this a post as I’m merely stealin’ and linkin’. Whatever. Yea me!

Here’s an excerpt from a particularly poignant and entertaining read, from the Poptimist vaults:

“Music taste isn’t in your DNA: You can train it, primp it, mess about with it, or let it wither. But some things are hard to change: For instance, you can’t choose your times. Whatever’s happening when you fall for music– whatever current strain you first identify with– that stuff stays with you. You might grow out of it and never listen to it again but it still feels important, even if history and facts say otherwise. This is a sentimental history of a genre which felt that way to me.”
